Bellwoods Brewery: Food Bloggers of Canada and FEAST Tweetup #3
Our 3rd Food Bloggers of Canada (FBC) tweetup (you can read about previous tweetups here and here) took place at Toronto’s wildly popular Bellwoods Brewery on Ossington. We had walked passed this establishment several times, always noting the packed patio and consistent crowd of people waiting for a table. If the line up is too long, you can always pick up Bellwoods beer at the bottle shop next door, and take it to go. The brewery is housed in a converted auto shop. It has kept the industrial aesthetic of the building alive by placing the fermentation tanks in full view, while creating a very warm and rustic dining space with a busy, expansive patio. They are serious about their beer, and warmly inviting.
Bellwoods has a number of regular brews on tap, but they are also an experimental brewery, rotating a large amount of innovative and seasonal taps. Keep an eye on their ever-changing list of available brews, and check the website before you go to see what’s bubbling.
We had the pleasure of meeting four wonderful ladies there. Isabel, Carole, and Robyn—all food bloggers based in Toronto—and Megan, a registered holistic nutritionist and recent transplant from Vancouver. We spent the night chatting away and getting some great local recommendations from the ladies, each of whom know the Toronto dining scene like few others in the city. We also ordered (on repeat) servings of Bellwoods’ incredible fries. This is a terrible picture, but we still think they are beautiful:
They’re ultra crispy, covered in herbs and fresh parmesan, and served with a sriracha aioli. We were so immediately addicted to them, it was as though we had just discovered what deep-fry was. If the beer weren’t enough incentive to get yourself to Bellwoods, the fries should be. Just go.
Thanks again to the FBC for facilitating another great event and helping us connect with like-minded folk across the country. We had a lovely time with these ladies!
